SUBMITTED BY: SHARPE, COREY 0636 (AR13-5641) DID UNLAWFULLY ENTER OR REMAIN IN A CERTAIN COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE OR CURTILAGE THEREOF, TO-WIT: FUNKY GROOVE LOCATED AT 1109 NORTHEAST 5TH STREET IN CRYSTAL RIVER, IN THE COUNTY OF CITRUS AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA, THE PROPERTY OF FUNKY GROOVE, WITHOUT SAID PERSON'S CONSENT, WITH THE INTENT TO COMMIT AN OFFENSE THEREIN, TO-WIT: GRAND THEFT, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATUTE 810.02(1) AND 810.02(4)(A); AND DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY OBTAIN, USE OR ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF THE VICTIM, TO-WIT: U S CURRENCY ($400.00), THE VALUE OF THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) OR MORE, BUT LESS THAN FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00),WITH THE INTENT TO EITHER TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM OF A RIGHT TO THE PROPERTY OR A BENEFIT THEREOF, OR DID APPROPRIATE THE SAID PROPERTY TO HIS OWN USE OR THE USE OF ANY PERSON NOT ENTITLED THERETO, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATUTES 812.014(2)(C)(1). ON 050813, AT APPROXIMATELY 0110 HOURS, THE CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECEIVED A REPORT OF A COMMERCIAL BURGLARY AT THE FUNKY GROOVE LOCATED AT 1109 NORTHEAST 5TH STREET IN CRYSTAL RIVER. UPON ARRIVAL, IT WAS FOUND PERSON OR PERSONS UNKNOWN HAD MADE FORCED ENTRY INTO BUSINESS BY BREAKING A FRONT WINDOW. ONCE INSIDE THE BUSINESS, $400.00 IN U S CURRENCY WAS REMOVED FROM the REGISTER. THIS INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON IN-STORE VIDEO. THE VIDEO DEPICTED A WHITE MALE APPROXIMATELY 5â 11â IN HEIGHT, 170 POUNDS WEARING A MULTICOLORED LONG SLEEVED SHIRT, JOGGING-TYPE PANTS AND GRAY CONVERSE TENNIS SHOES ENTERED THE STORE AND REMOVED THE CASH FROM THE REGISTER DRAWER. THE VIDEO ALSO SHOWS THAT the SUSPECT HAD A VERY UNIQUE TATTOO ON HIS LEFT HAND THAT CONSISTED OF FLAMES BETWEEN the THUMB AND FOREFINGER AND FOUR SEPARATE TATTOOS ON THE OTHER FINGERS. ON 051113, AT APPROXIMATELY 0200 HOURS, DEPUTY DAWN ALEXANDER WITH the CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE STOPPED AN INDIVIDUAL MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT CAPTURED in the VIDEO. SHE MADE CONTACT WITH THIS SUBJECT IN the SAME GENERAL AREA OF THE FUNKY GROOVE. DEPUTY ALEXANDER WAS FAMILIAR WITH the DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT CAPTURED ON VIDEO, DUE TO THE FACT SHE WAS THE INITIAL RESPONDING DEPUTY TO the BURGLARY. PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN BY DEPUTY ALEXANDER OF the INDIVIDUAL, WHO ENDED UP BEING MR DOUGLAS TRUBAC, A WHITE MALE WITH A DATE OF BIRTH OF 112883. A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK REVEALED DEFENDANT TRUBAC HAS NUMEROUS ARRESTS, MOSTLY IN SOUTH FLORIDA, FOR BURGLARY AND GRAND THEFT. THE DEFENDANT IS A HABITUAL FELONY OFFENDER. DEPUTY ALEXANDER TOOK PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE INDIVIDUAL, TO INCLUDE HIS CLOTHING AND TATTOOS, AS WELL AS ANY INJURIES. ON 051513, THE VIDEO FROM THE FUNKY GROVE WAS PROCESSED. THIS DETECTIVE VIEWED THE VIDEO AND WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE SUSPECT WHO WAS CAPTURED ON THE VIDEO STRONGLY RESEMBLED DEFENDANT DOUGLAS TRUBAC. IT WAS ALSO FOUND THAT THE PHOTOS TAKEN BY DEPUTY ALEXANDER THAT the DEFENDANT WAS WEARING the SAME SHIRT AND SHOES THAT WERE CAPTURED ON THE FUNKY GROVE VIDEO. IT WAS ALSO FOUND THAT THIS INDIVIDUAL HAD the SAME DISTINCTIVE TATTOOS ON HIS LEFT HAND THAT WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO. ON 051613, AT APPROXIMATELY 0900 HOURS, THE CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECEIVED AN ANONYMOUS CALL ADVISING THAt The DEFENDANT WAS WALKING DOWN TANGERINE LANE IN CRYSTAL RIVER. UNITS RESPONDED to the SCENE and the DEFENDANT WAS ARRESTED. the DEFENDANT WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE DETENTION FACILITY. THE DEFENDANT REFUSED AN INTERVIEW. the DEFENDANT WAS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF BURGLARY TO A COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE AND ONE COUNT GRAND THEFT. the DEFENDANT IS CURRENTLY HOMELESS AND HAS NO TIES TO CITRUS COUNTY. DUE TO HISTORY AND HIS EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL RECORD, HIS BOND WAS SET AT . |
