| Details: | In April 2000, Alfredo RANGEL and two other accomplices were involved in a violent assault on a Texas DPS state trooper during a traffic stop that occurred on Interstate 35 near Cotulla, Texas. The trooper's service weapon was taken and the trooper was left on the ground with serious injuries. RANGEL and his accomplices later abandoned their vehicle and carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint before being apprehended in Laredo, Texas. RANGEL was convicted of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Aggravated Robbery, and received a 15-year sentence in TDCJ prison. He was paroled in January 2012. On August 15, 2014, RANGEL and two accomplices were involved in an armed robbery at a local casino in Laredo, Texas. The Laredo Police Department subsequently issued warrants for RANGEL's arrest for Larceny and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. On September 29, 2014, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for his arrest for Parole Violation. RANGEL has strong ties to Laredo, Texas, and is suspected of being associated with the Texas Mexican Mafia gang. He has past employment in the used car dealership industry. |
