Inmate name: | Andrew Rene Alcantar |
Charge description: | Andrew Rene Alcantar was sentenced to 25 years in prison on January 10, 2014 after pleading guilty on two charges of Manufacturing or Delivering a Controlled Substance (cocaine). The 44-year-old Rosenberg man was arrested after an undercover operation by the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force revealed that he was dealing drugs from his home and business in 2011. According to Assistant District Attorney Matthew Banister, Alcantar was selling cocaine directly to individuals out of his Rosenberg residence and a local business establishment. After a four-month investigation by the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force, a search warrant was obtained. Task force officers seized approximately 60 grams of powder cocaine in Alcantars possession, ready for distribution. Alcantar was prosecuted in the 434th District Court before Presiding Judge James H. Shoemake. Both charges were punished as first-degree felonies punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison and a maximum fine of up to $10,000. Alcantar was sentenced to 25 years for each crime but the sentences will be served concurrently. He was not probation eligible because of a prior felony drug conviction. Assistant District Attorney Matthew Banister prosecuted the case. Attorney Ralph Gonzalez represented the defendant. |
