Probable cause affidavit: SUBMITTED BY: STRICKLAND, JASON 0583 (AR09108549) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY OBTAIN OR USE, OR ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF THE VICTIM, beall's department store TO WIT: a pink in color roxy shirt, SAID PROPERTY BEING OF A VALUE OF $24.50 WITH THE INTENT TO EITHER TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM OF A RIGHT TO THE PROPERTY OR A BENEFIT THEREOF, OR DID APPROPRIATE THE SAID PROPERTY TO HIS OWN USE OR THE USE OF ANY PERSON NOT ENTITLED THERETO, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTES 812.014(1) and 812.014(3)(a). on 040809 at approximately 1707 hours, i was dispatched to 2851 east gulf to lake highway in inverness; the beall's department store, in reference to a shoplifter in custody. upon my arrival i made contact with the loss prevention officer/witness, who advised that at approximately 1650 hours, he observed the defendant, ms ashley bowers, and an unknown white male, enter the store and walk to the shoe department. he further advised the male selected a pair of shoes and the defendant had two shirts in her hands and a pair of shorts. the witness further advised the defendant left one shirt and the pair of shorts behind while walking off and tore the price tags off the pink roxY shirt, AND THEN she stuffed THE SHIRT down her pants. at that time the unknown white male and the defendant walked to the registers to put the pair of shoes on hold, at which time the female walked past all points of sale without paying for the shirt SHE HAD STUFFED in her pants. at that time the witness approached the defendant outside of the store and asked her to go inside his office, where the defendant then admitted to the witness that she had stolen the shirt. after the defendant admitted to stealing the shirt the witness notified this agency. while i was on scene the witness provided me with a written STATEMENT which he was sworn to. i also filled out a property receipt gaining custody of the compact disk with security footage of the incident. i provided the witness with an agency case card bearing my name and badge number. the defendant was then plAced under arrest for one count of retail theft, defendant's hands were handcuffed (double locked) behind her back. she was escorted to my patrol vehicle and was then secured in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle and transported to the citrus county detention facility where she was turned over to detention facility staff. while at the warrant's division the defendant's bond was set at $250.00 per bond schedule. no further police action taken by this dEputy. *NOT-EXEMPT*
