| Comments: | STANLEY, Bert Lawrence was first convicted in Pierce County for Rape in the First Degree (armed with deadly weapon) in 1980. The victim, a 21-year-old female, was alone in her residence when she answered a stranger's (STANLEY) knock at the door. STANLEY burst in armed with a buck knife and stabbed the victim while she fought with him. Stanley controlled the victim and forced her and her baby upstairs. STANLEY then brutally raped and robbed the victim. He was sentenced to twenty years with a five-year minimum sentence. In 1988, STANLEY picked up a 27-year-old female hitchhiker in his car. STANEY put a knife to the victim's throat and sexually molested her while driving in the Summit area of Pierce County. The victim noticed a sheriff's patrol car and began to honk the horn to flag down the deputy. STANLEY responded by trying to stab the victim, cutting her hands. The patrol car pursued STANLEY'S car at a high rate of speed until it crashed. STANLEY was initially arrested for Kidnap, Assault and Indecent Liberties but later pled guilty to the Assault 2nd Degree charge. Due to the predatory nature of his offenses and the prominent and actual use of knives to commit the rapes and assault, STANLEY is considered a high-risk offender worthy of community notification. |
