SUBMITTED BY: CONLEY, STEPHEN 0290 (11060742) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY OBTAIN, USE OR ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF THE VICTIM, TO-WIT: JEWELRY AND A NINTENDO DS, OF THE VALUE OF THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) OR MORE, BUT LESS THAN FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00), WITH THE INTENT TO EITHER TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM OF A RIGHT TO THE PROPERTY OR A BENEFIT THEREOF, OR DID APPROPRIATE THE SAID PROPERTY TO HIS OWN USE OR THE USE OF ANY PERSON NOT ENTITLED THERETO, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA'S STATE STATUTE 812.014(2)(C)(1). ON 061911, IT WAS REPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE THAT A GRAND THEFT OF JEWELRY OCCURRED AT 7742 SOUTH FOUR OAKS DRIVE IN FLORAL CITY, FLORIDA. THE TIME FRAME OF THE INCIDENT WAS ONGOING FROM AT LEAST 012011 TO 061711. DURING THE INVESTIGATION IT WAS LEARNED FROM THE VICTIM THAT THE DEFENDANT, BRANDON HOWE, WAS A PARTICIPANT IN THE THEFT(S). IT WAS ALSO LEARNED THAT DEFENDANT HOWE HAD ACCESS TO THE RESIDENCE DURING THE TIME OF THE THEFTS. DURING THE INVESTIGATION, CONTACT WAS MADE WITH DETECTIVE WILSON OF THE SUMTER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. DETECTIVE WILSON MADE CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM AT FAMILY PAWN IN SUMTER COUNTY, WHERE SHE POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED SEVERAL ITEMS OF STOLEN JEWELRY AS HERS. ON 0714211 I MADE CONTACT WITH DEFENDANT HOWE AT HIS RESIDENCE AND CONDUCTED A DIGITALLY RECORDED INTERVIEW. PRIOR TO ANY QUESTIONING, DEFENDANT HOWE WAS READ MIRANDA FROM A PREPRINTED TEXT. DEFENDANT HOWE UNDERSTOOD HIS RIGHTS AND AGREED TO SPEAK WITH ME. DURING THE INTERVIEW DEFENDANT HOWE ADMITTED TO ACCESSING A JEWELRY BOX UNDERNEATH THE VICTIM'S BED AND STEALING SEVERAL ITEMS OF JEWELRY. THE ITEMS HE ADMITTED TO STEALING WERE EARRINGS VALUED AT $100.00, ANOTHER PAIR OF EARRINGS VALUED AT $100.00, A SMALL NECKLACE VALUED AT $100.00, AND A DIAMOND RING VALUED AT $100.00. HE ALSO ADMITTED TO STEALING A NINTENDO DS GAME SYSTEM VALUED AT $50.00. DEFENDANT HOWE STATED THAT ALL OF THE ITEMS HE STOLE WERE PAWNED OR SOLD BY A CO DEFENDANT. HE STATED THAT THESE ITEMS WERE TAKEN TO GOLD DIGGERS AND GUNSLINGERS IN INVERNESS, FLORIDA OR TO FAMILY PAWN IN BUSHNELL, FLORIDA. DEFENDANT HOWE AGREED THAT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF THE ITEMS HE STOLE WERE AT LEAST $400.00 OR MORE. THE INTERVIEW WAS CONCLUDED AND THE DIGITAL RECORDING WAS LATER DOWNLOADED TO THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE SERVER. DEFENDANT HOWE WAS ARRESTED, HANDCUFFED, AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING. BOND SET AT $2000.00 PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. CASE CLOSED.
