SUBMITTED BY: GREATREX/0287 (AR 16-20671) (16-102217) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY OBTAIN, USE OR ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF THE VICTIM, TO-WIT: TAURUS 45 CALIBER HAND GUN, PAINT ROLLERS, ELECTRICAL RECEPTACLES, KNIFE SHARPENER, AND A VIZIO FLAT SCREEN TV, OF THE VALUE OF THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) OR MORE, BUT LESS THAN FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00), WITH THE INTENT TO EITHER TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM OF A RIGHT TO THE PROPERTY OR A BENEFIT THEREOF, OR DID APPROPRIATE THE SAID PROPERTY TO HIS OWN USE OR THE USE OF ANY PERSON NOT ENTITLED THERETO, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATUTE, 812.014(2)(C)(1). \t\t DID UNLAWFULLY TRAFFIC IN, OR ENDEAVORS TO TRAFFIC IN, PROPERTY THAT HE OR SHE KNOWS OR SHOULD KNOW WAS STOLEN TO-WIT: TAURUS 45 CALIBER FIREARMS, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUE, 812.019(1) DID HAVE IN HIS OR HER POSSESSION A FIREARM TO-WIT: TAURUS 45 CALIBER HAND GUN, BY A PERSON WHO IS A CONVICTED FELON, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUE 790.23(1)(A) ON 072716, AT APPROXIMATELY 0958 HOURS, DEPUTY TULLY WAS DISPATCHED TO 3017 WEST LAUREL STREET LOCATED IN LECANTO IN REFERENCE TO A PAST THEFT. UPON ARRIVAL, DEPUTY TULLY MADE CONTACT WITH VICTIM, MR. DONALD MAYNARD, JR, AND HE STATED ON TODAY'S DATE, (072716) HE ARRIVED AT HIS HOME WHICH HE DOES NOT LIVE AT, TO CONTINUE REMODELING THE INSIDE. THE VICTIM REPORTED THAT WHILE IN HIS HOME HE DISCOVERED HE WAS MISSING A TWENTY-INCH BLACK VIZIO FLAT SCREEN TV, BLACK GUN CASE CONTAINING HIS TAURUS .45 CALIBER SEMIAUTOMATIC, ELECTRIC KNIFE SHARPENER AND SEVERAL CONSTRUCTION ITEMS THAT HE WAS USING TO REMODEL HIS HOME. THE VICTIM REPORTED THAT HE SUSPECTED THAT A FRIEND OF HIS NAMED LINDA LAMON AND HER FRIENDS MAY HAVE TAKEN HIS PROPERTY. THE VICTIM SAID THAT MRS. LAMON DID HAVE PERMISSION TO BE AT THE HOUSE DUE TO SHE WAS HELPING HIM REMODEL THE HOME. THE VICTIM SAID SHE ALSO KNEW THAT HE HAD A HIDDEN KEY TO ENTER THE HOUSE. UPON THIS DETECTIVE INVESTIGATING THIS CASE I LEARNED THAT SUSPECT CHARLIE RODDENBERRY WAS AT THE VICTIMS HOUSE DURING THE TIME FRAME OF THIS THEFT. AFTER FOLLOWING SEVERAL LEADS I LEARNED THAT SUSPECT RODDENBERRY MAY HAVE SOLD A FIREARM TO SOMEONE IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD IN LECANTO OF WOLFE PT. ON 081916, THIS DETECTIVE MADE CONTACT WITH MR. DICK ROTEN WHO LIVES ON WOLFE POINT. I BRIEFLY EXPLAINED THIS CASE TO MR. ROTEN AND HE STATED THAT HE DID PURCHASED A 45 CALIBER TAURUS FIREARM FROM THE SUSPECT RODDENBERRY FOR $300.00 APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO. AT THAT TIME, MR. ROTEN PROVIDED THIS DETECTIVE WITH 45 CALIBER TAURUS FIREARM WHICH DID MATCH THE DESCRIPTION AND MODEL NUMBER THAT THE VICTIM PROVIDED IN THIS REPORT. MR. ROTEN PROVIDED ME WITH A SWORN RECORDED STATEMENT AND ADVISED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW HE WAS BUYING STOLEN PROPERTY. MR. ROTEN SAID THAT THE SUSPECT WAS ALSO TRYING TO SELL HIM SOME CONSTRUCTION ITEMS AND A KNIFE SHARPENER WHICH IS PROPERTY THAT IS LISTED STOLEN BY THE VICTIM. AFTER COLLECTING THIS EVIDENCE I MADE CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM AND HE DID IDENTIFY THE FIREARM AS HIS PROPERTY. ON 082316 AT APPROXIMATELY 0630 HOURS, THIS DETECTIVE RESPONDED TO 239 SOUTH WOLFE POINT IN LECANTO AND MADE CONTACT WITH THE SUSPECT. UPON ARRIVING, THIS DETECTIVE ADVISED THE SUSPECT I WAS INVESTIGATING THIS CASE. THE SUSPECT SAID THAT HE DID KNOW THE VICTIM BUT DENIED TAKING OR SELLING HIS FIREARM. THE SUSPECT DID STATE THAT HE WAS PRESENT WHEN THE GUN WAS SOLD TO MR. DICK ROTEN. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE SUSPECT, I ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS UNDER ARREST FOR THE THEFT AND SALE OF THE VICTIMS PROPERTY. THE DEFENDANT WAS THEN HAND CUFFED, READ HIS MIRANDA RIGHTS AND THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE JAIL. THE DEFENDANT WAS CHARGED WITH 1 COUNT OF GRAND THEFT WITH A BOND OF $2000.00, 1 COUNT OF DEALING IN STOLEN PROPERTY WITH BOND OF $5000.00, AND 1 COUNT OF POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON WITH A BOND SET AT $10,000.00.
