| Comments: | According to official documents, when Christen HEREIM was approximately 14 to 17 years old, he sexually assaulted a male relative (who was 10 to 13 years old) on multiple occasions. The sexual assaults took place in HEREIM's mother's home. HEREIM acknowledged his behavior and also admitted he groped the victim's genitals while he slept. The victim also said HEREIM had child pornography on his computer. HEREIM also sexually assaulted the victim's older brother who was approximately two years younger than HEREIM. HEREIM was charged in 1999 with Rape of a Child 1st Degree and Rape of a Child 2nd Degree. In 2000 HEREIM was convicted of 2 counts of Rape of a Child 2nd Degree. HEREIM was originally given community based treatment (Special Sex Offender Sentence Alternative Sentence - SSOSA), but that was revoked after HEREIM was terminated from treatment after numerous violations. HEREIM was told not to return to his mother's home since she lived two doors down from where the victims resided. HEREIM returned to his mother's home placing himself at risk for contact with the victims. HEREIM also failed to comply with rules of his supervision by repeatedly frequenting an establishment where there were young people. HEREIM was sent to prison for over 131 months after he was terminated from the community based treatment program. File material notes HEREIM did complete Sex Offender Treatment while in custody although there were concerns he was being secretive and continuing to engage in fantasy behaviors. During treatment HEREIM stated he had a total of 8 victims (both adjudicated and unadjudicated) which included a sexual assault on an 11 year old boy when he was 14 years old and an 8 year old boy when he was 15 years old. HEREIM was referred for Civil Commitment under RCW 71.09, but the evaluator stated HEREIM did not meet the criteria at that time. HEREIM has no other known criminal history. Due to HEREIM's sexual criminal history he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. This allows the Pierce County Sheriff's Department to disclose relevant, necessary, and accurate information to the public at large. HEREIM is currently being supervised in the community by the Washington State Department of Corrections. |
