Charge description: 400th District Court Judge Clifford Vacek sentenced Christopher Camacho to a life sentence on June 28, 2013 after a jury took about an hour to convict him of Capital Murder. The 31-year-old Rosenberg man was charged with killing Michael Montalvo and Vivian Moreno in January of 2004. According to Assistant District Attorney Chris DeLozier, Moreno and Montalvo were found shot to death in a field on Randon Dyer Road near Rosenberg in January 2004. Charges were filed in 2006 after new evidence linked the defendant and two other men to the crime. The State presented evidence at trial that Christopher Montalvo hired Isaias Santos and Christopher Camacho to kill his brother, Michael Montalvo, and Vivian Michelle Moreno. Camacho and Santos executed the pair by shooting them in the head. Ten days prior to her murder, Morenos mother and younger brother were murdered in Dallas. According to Santos, Christopher Montalvo wanted his brother and Moreno murdered to cover up his involvement in the Dallas killings. Tried in the 400th District Court before Presiding Judge Clifford J. Vacek, Camacho faced an automatic life sentence because the death penalty was not sought in this case. Under the law at the time the crime was committed, Camacho will be eligible for parole after 40 years in prison. Christopher Montalvo was sentenced on October 23, 2012 to 30 years for his participation in the murders. Isaias Santos was convicted by a jury of Capital Murder on May 16, 2013 and also received a life sentence. Fort Bend County Assistant District Attorneys Chris DeLozier and Bob Yack prosecuted the case. Attorneys Michael Diaz and Brian Middleton represented the defendant.
