| Comments: | SCALES, Christopher Michael - In 2001, Subject SCALES was convicted of Assault 2nd Degree with Sexual Motivation and a special Finding of a Deadly Weapon Enhancement. The 13 year old female victim had sneaked out of her residence and went to the Hilltop area of Tacoma. She was contacted by SCALES and an associate on a street corner and they introduced themselves to the victim using their street name monikers. Eventually, SCALES suggested that he and the victim walk to a relative's residence. The victim initially agreed, but then changed her mind. She attempted to leave and SCALES started to yell and curse at her. SCALES pulled out a knife and told the victim he would kill her if she tried to flee. The victim screamed and tried to runaway. SCALES chased the victim and grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. He held the knife to the victim's stomach and told her to shut up. The victim told SCALES she was afraid of the knife. SCALES threw the knife away and told the victim to get undressed. SCALES then exposed himself and sexually assaulted the victim. After assaulting the victim, SCALES fled the area. The victim was later able to identify SCALES as the person who assaulted her. SCALES does not have any other known sexual assault convictions. His extensive criminal record includes Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Theft 2nd Degree (2 counts), Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Permission (2 Counts), Custodial Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Attempted Robbery, Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, and Violation of the Controlled Substance Act. SCALES refused to participate in the Sex Offender Treatment Program. He will be under community supervision with the Washington State Department of Corrections for approximately 3 years. Due to SCALES' sex crime and extensive criminal history, he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. This allows the Pierce County Sheriff's Department to disclose relevant, necessary, and accurate information to the public at large.
