| Comments: | In 1994, Daniel B. NORWOOD was convicted of Rape 2nd Degree. NORWOOD had picked up an unknown 16 year old female in his vehicle as she was walking to the store. The victim willingly got into NORWOOD's vehicle. NORWOOD drove around for awhile and the victim thought he was just running errands. NORWOOD eventually drove to a secluded area and asked the victim to have sex with him. She refused and attempted to exit the vehicle via the passenger window. NORWOOD grabbed the victim and pulled her back inside the vehicle. He punched the victim in the face several times, giving her two black eyes and a swollen cheek. NORWOOD forced the victim to perform oral sex on him while he sexually fondled her. After the assault, NORWOOD took the victim to a shopping mall and let her out of the vehicle. In 1978, NORWOOD (age 15) unlawfully entered a residence armed with a gun. The female resident confronted NORWOOD and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, NORWOOD pulled the trigger on the gun and it did not fire. NORWOOD then fled the residence. He was originally charged with Attempted Rape 1st Degree and Assault 1st Degree. The rape charge was dropped and NORWOOD was convicted of Assault 1st Degree. NORWOOD's criminal history includes the following crimes: 2012 Failure to Register as a Sex Offender-Felony, 1992 Theft 2nd Degree, 1990 Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act (Marijuana), 1988 Delivery of a Controlled Substance - 2 counts, 1985 Escape 1st Degree, 1981 Assault 2nd Degree and Burglary 2nd Degree, and misdemeanor convictions related to Theft, Obstructing, Trespassing, Possession of Marijuana, Vehicle Prowling, Having a Loaded Shotgun in a Vehicle, Criminal Impersonation, and Assault. NORWOOD refused to participate in the Sex Offender Treatment Program during his incarceration. In 2004, NORWOOD was considered for civil commitment as a sexually violent predator but his commitment was declined by the King County Superior Court. Due to NORWOOD's sexual criminal history, he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. |
