| Commentaries: | Comments According to official documents, Mellott was found guilty by jury verdict on 2-8-1991 of the crimes of Rape in the 1st Degree while armed with a deadly weapon, Assault 1st Degree with a deadly weapon and Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree. He was given a term of 273 months in prison. The victim in these crimes was an adult female, unknown to Mellott. Mellott who was 25 years old at the time attacked, raped and stabbed his victim while she was walkiing on a nature trail with her minor son.. At the end of the rape, Mellott stabbed his victim in the abdomen. A citizen came upon the assault and Mellott got up and ran away. Mellott was offered sex offender treatment several times while in prison and he has refused. While in prison Mellott also found guilty of Sexual Harassment and lost 30 days of his good time.
