SUBMITTED BY: BOUFFARD, JAMES 034 (AR07005348) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE OR ENDEAVOR TO TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF BEALLS DEPARTMENT STORE (VICTIM) , TO WIT: MISCELLANEOUS MERCHANDISE TOTALING APPROXIMATELY $818.00, BY TAKING POSSESSION OF OR CARRYING AWAY THE SAID MERCHANDISE, WITH THE INTENT TO TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM, A MERCHANT, OF THE POSSESSION, USE, BENEFIT, OR FULL RETAIL VALUE OF SAID PROPERTY, SAID PROPERTY BEING OF A VALUE OF OVER $300.00, BUT LESS THAN $5,000.00 (GRAND THEFT), IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTES 812.014(1) AND 812.014(2)(C)1. ON 093007, I WAS DISPATCHED TO BEALLS DEPARTMENT STORE LOCATED AT 346 NORTH SUNCOAST BOULEVARD IN CRYSTAL RIVER, IN REFERENCE TO A SHOPLIFTER. UPON MY ARRIVAL, CONTACT WAS MADE WITH LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER FOR BEALLS DEPARTMENT, WHO ADVISED THAT HE HAD THE VIDEO SURVEILLANCE TAPE OF THE SUSPECT (MS DENISE RODDENBERRY), WHICH SHOWED HER GATHERING NUMEROUS ITEMS AND EVENTUALLY HEADED TOWARDS THE DOOR LEADING OUTSIDE THE BUSINESS. ONCE OUTSIDE, LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER STOPPED THE SUSPECT AND HAD HER RETURN BACK INSIDE THE STORE AND THEN TRANSFERRED TO THE LOSS PREVENTION OFFICE FOR QUESTIONING. THE DEFENDANT ADMITTED TO THE THEFTS. THERE WAS A TOTAL OF THIRTY-ONE ITEMS SHE HAD ATTEMPTED TO CONCEAL IN HER PURSE AND A DOLLAR GENERAL BAG. AFTER COLLECTING ITEMS, THE DEFENDANT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE STORE WITHOUT PAYING. THE ITEMS TOTALED APPROXIMATELY $818.00. (REFER TO LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER'S STATEMENT FOR DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THEFT.) A PROPERTY RECEIPT LISTING THE ITEMS RECOVERED WAS COMPLETED AND SIGNED BY LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER.. LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER PROVIDED A SWORN STATEMENT DETAILING HIS ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT. A COPY OF THE DEFENDANT'S PHOTO TAKEN FROM SURVEILLANCE TAPE, A PHOTOCOPY OF THE MERCHANDISE, A COPY OF THE SURVEILLANCE TAPE AND THE REGISTER RECEIPT LISTING THE ARTICLES TAKEN (WITH VALUE) WERE TURNED IN TO EVIDENCE. ALL DOCUMENTATION RELATING TO THIS CASE WILL BE TURNED IN TO THE CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECORDS DEPARTMENT. THE DEFENDANT WAS ADVISED SHE WAS BEING PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR GRAND THEFT. THE DEFENDANT WAS HANDCUFFED DOUBLE LOCKED BEHIND HER BACK AND SECURED IN THE REAR SEAT OF MY PATROL VEHICLE. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING. ONCE AT THE DETENTION FACILITY, THE DEFENDANT WAS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT RETAIL GRAND THEFT WITH HER BOND SET AT $2,000.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. *NOT-EXEMPT* |
