| Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. According to official documents, Britton was convicted of the crimes of Rape of a Child 3rd degree, Child Molestation 3rd degree and Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes on 4-30-2009. He was given a term of 60 months in prison. The victim in the Rape of a Child and Child Molestation was 9 years old female whom met Britton as her mother was dating him. They all moved in together and by the age of 13, Britton began sexually molesting the victim. The victim would tell Britton to stop but he would assault her against her wishes. Prior to the victim's16 birthday, Britton had sexual intercourse with the victim against her will. The victim reports the assault to her school counselor. In the Communication with a Minor of Immoral Purposes Britton offered the victim and her friend money if they would perform sex acts on each other while he watched. The victim and friend refused. On 2-10-1992 Britton was convicted of Child Molestation in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Child Molestation in the 3rd Degree. The victim in these crimes were ages 12 and 14. All females. The victims were friends of his live in girlfriend and her daughter. Britton would touch all these victims in the breast and vaginal area. Britton had attended Sex Offender Treatment for his first conviction, but declined to enter treatment on his current conviction. Shall not work at or be in places frequented by minors. Shall not enter parks, playgrounds or schools. Shall not enter bars, taverns or lounges. Shall submit to breathalyzer and polygraph testing as required. Shall not use, possess purchase or consume alcohol. Shall have no contact with minors. Shall not possess or peruse pornographic materials. Shall not access the internet or email by electronic devices. Shall not have direct or indirect contact with any victim. Shall not purchase, own, have in his possession or under his control any firearm or deadly weapon. |
