SUBMITTED BY: PHILLIPS, SHANNON 0223 (AR15-15006) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE OR ENDEAVOR TO TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF WAL-MART, TO WIT: CONCEALED SIX WATCHES IN HIS PANTS POCKETS, CARRYING AWAY THE SAID MERCHANDISE, WITH INTENT TO TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE, A MERCHANT, OF THE POSSESSION, USE, BENEFIT, OR FULL RETAIL VALUE OF SAID PROPERTY, SAID PROPERTY BEING OF A VALUE OF LESS THAN $100.00, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTE 812.014(3)(A). ON 051515, I WAS DISPATCHED TO THE WAL-MART LOCATED AT 1936 NORTH LECANTO HIGHWAY IN LECANTO, IN REFERENCE TO A RETAIL THEFT. UPON ARRIVAL, CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE WITNESS/LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER, MR PATRICK HENRY, WHO ADVISED THAT HE WAS CONTACTED BY ONE OF THE CASHIERS ABOUT A SUSPICIOUS MALE LATER IDENTIFIED AS THE DEFENDANT, MR DUSTY MEREDITH, WHO WAS IN THE JEWELRY DEPARTMENT OPENING PACKAGES FOR WATCHES. THE COMPLAINANT ADVISED THAT HE RESPONDED TO THE JEWELRY SECTION, WHERE HE LOCATED THE DEFENDANT AND OBSERVED HIM SELECT SEVERAL WATCHES, REMOVE THEM FROM THE PACKAGING AND CONCEAL THEM IN BOTH OF HIS FRONT POCKETS. AFTER HE OBSERVED HIM SELECTING AND CONCEALING THE WATCHES, THE COMPLAINANT OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT WALK PAST THE REGISTERS AND EXIT THE GROCERY AREA, PASSING ALL POINTS OF SALE WITH NO ATTEMPT TO PAY FOR THE ITEMS. THE COMPLAINANT MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEFENDANT OUTSIDE OF THE STORE, ADVISED HIM WHY HE WAS BEING STOPPED AND ESCORTED HIM BACK TO THE LOSS PREVENTION OFFICE. THE ITEMS WERE RETURNED TO THE STORE. THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR RETAIL PETIT THEFT. HE WAS HANDCUFFED (DOUBLE LOCKED)BEHIND HIS BACK, SECURED IN THE REAR SEAT OF MY PATROL VEHICLE AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING, WHERE HIS BOND WAS SET AT $500.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND PROPERTY RECEIPTS WILL BE TURNED IN TO EVIDENCE. |
