Narrative: On the above date and time, officers of the Brooksville Police Department responded to Wendy’s located at 1100 S. Broad Street in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who was visibly shaken and upset. She advised she was arguing with her live-in boyfriend, James Amato, at her home located 6137 Grady Street. She further advised that during the argument, Amato threatened her with a screwdriver. She advised she left the residence and called police. Officers responded to the address on Grady Street and made contact with Amato. He admitted to being in an argument with the victim and having a screwdriver in his hand but denied threatening her with it. Amato was placed under arrest and charged with domestic aggravated assault. He is being held at the Hernando County Jail without bond.
