| Comments: | According to official documents James Cook was convicted by verdict of a jury on September 29, 1981 of the crimes of Robbery 1st Degree and Rape 1st Degree. Cook was given a maximum term of 20 years on each count, to run concurrent on January 22, 1982. On March 6, 1981 The victim in this crime who was a adult female was walking home on SR 2 when Cook stopped and gave her a ride. The victim was taken towards her residence and then Cook drove in the wrong direction. Cook told this victim that he would turn around. Cook still drove the wrong direction and then pulled a handgun on the victim. Cook then drove to a deserted area and raped the victim . Once the victim was let out of the vehicle, she attempted to leave with her purse, but Cook grabbed it. The victim then called the police from a residence and reported the crime. Cook was released from prison and violated his parole for failing to report to his parole officer and failing to enter drug treatment. Cook was given 18 months for this parole violation on 1-9-1989. Cook no longer has any conditions on this Rape and Robbery conviction. Cook was convicted of Failure to Register and Second degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on July 24, 2001 and was given Four (4) months in jail. Upon his release from jail he has failed to register. |
