| Narrative: | On the above date and time, an officer of the Brooksville Police Department made consensual contact with James E. Harris at the intersection of Asmara Street and Dire Dawa Avenue. Harris reached into his pocket and pulled out a metal stick, commonly used as a crack cocaine push rod. When asked about the object, Harris threw it into the grass. The officer had prior knowledge that Harris has prior arrests for possession of a firearm. For the officer’s safety and due to the fact that Harris had bulges in his clothing that could have been a firearm, the officer attempted to pat him down for weapons. Harris then tensed up and attempted to run away from the officer. A struggle then ensued. A back up officer arrived on scene and attempted to assist but Harris refused to comply. Harris was taken into custody. Search of Harris’s person, incident to arrest, revealed a crack pipe, marijuana, and a vial with cocaine residue. Harris is being held at the jail on $2,000.00 bond. |
