| Narrative: | On the above date and time, officers of the Brooksville Police Department responded to Murphy USA in reference to a vehicle fire. An investigation revealed that JAMES T. HENDRIX was operating an unregistered vehicle with an altered license plate when a mechanical problem caused the vehicle to catch fire. HENDRIX pulled into the Murphy USA gas station and stopped the vehicle on top of the gas tanks. The fuel pumps were shut off and the fire was extinguished. As police officers arrived HENDRIX fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by officers behind the Walmart Store. HENDRIX stated that he fled because he “got scared” because of the unregistered vehicle, altered license plate, and the fact that he is on parole. HENDRIX was transported to the Hernando County Jail where he was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle, altering a license plate, and leaving the scene. Confirmation was received from the Department of Corrections indicating that HENDRIX is on parole for the rest of his life for armed burglary and he was also charged with violation of parole. He is being held at the Hernando County Jail without bond. |
