Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. According to official documents on 10/2012 JAMES M LIM pled guilty to Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes. LIM used his position as a Bible Study Teacher and Mentor to gain access to a 17 year old female victim. LIM and the victim became involved sexually while on a mission trip to Jamaica. The sexual activity continued when they returned. LIM told the victim to keep the relationship a secret because of the consequences he could face with the church and law enforcement. LIM was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 12 months Community Custody Probation. LIM only has the requirement to register as a Sex Offender at this time. |
