| Comments: | In 1981, Jamie C. GIBBS was convicted of Rape 2nd Degree. GIBBS was originally convicted of 2 counts of Rape 1st Degree regarding this case. GIBBS appealed his conviction and it was overturned, he then plead guilty to the Rape 2nd Degree in connection with this case. According to official documents, GIBBS was in a vehicle with the 15 year old female victim, the victim's female friend, and a male associate of GIBBS. They drove the vehicle to a residence and dropped off the victim's friend. The victim also wanted to be dropped off at the residence, but GIBBS and the other male would not allow her to exit the vehicle. They drove off in the vehicle with the victim still in the vehicle with them. They eventually drove to GIBBS' residence. GIBBS and the other male forced the victim to take 3 unknown type pills and threatened to 'beat' her if she did not comply. The victim complied and GIBBS and the other male took the victim into a bedroom at the residence and the one male held the victim down on the bed while GIBBS forcefully sexually assaulted the victim despite her pleas for him to stop. After GIBBS assaulted her, he then held the victim down while his male associate sexually assaulted the victim. The victim said that the two male subjects continued to sexually assault her for a long period of time. At one point, GIBBS thought he heard a female relative return to the home. During this distraction, the victim was able to flee the residence and report the incident. Later that same year, GIBBS and a male associated identified as the same subject in the first related sexual assault drove up to the adult female victim who had just been in a fight. GIBBS and his associate offered to give the victim a ride from the area. When the victim accepted their ride, they drove her to a secluded location sexually assaulted the victim while in the vehicle with her. The victim was eventually able to exit the vehicle and fled to a nearby house and reported the incident. This case was eventually dropped as a result of the plea bargain GIBBS plead guilty to. According to police reports, GIBBS was a suspect in 3 other sexual assault crimes, but he was not convicted of those incidents. GIBBS criminal history include; Simple Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Theft 1st Degree, Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree, and his latest crime of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. It does not appear that GIBBS participated in sex offender treatment while incarcerated in prison. GIBBS will be under community supervision by the Washington State Department of Corrections for the drug related convictions. |
