| Probable cause affidavit: | SUBMITTED BY: VICK, BRYAN 0684 (AR10112634) ON 010210, I RESPONDED TO the AREA OF CAROUSEL TERRACE IN CRYSTAL RIVER IN REFERENCE TO THE BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE THAT HAD JUST OCCURRED. THE VICTIM ADVISED HE HAD SEEN A SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE OR A STATION WAGON, POSSIBLY RED IN COLOR, THAT THE DEFENDANT HAD GOTTEN INTO AND DRIVEN AWAY. ANOTHER CALL REGARDING THE BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE IN THE SAME AREA WAS RECEIVED WITH THE WITNESS OBSERVING THE SAME DEFENDANT ENTERING A VEHICLE AND REMOVING A CORDLESS DRILL. THE WITNESS PROVIDED A DESCRIPTION OF THE DEFENDANT AS WELL AS A DESCRIPTION OF THE VEHICLE HE WAS DRIVING. WHILE BOLOING THE AREA, CANINE DEPUTY RITLI OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT INSIDE ANOTHER VEHICLE AND UPON ANNOUNCING HIMSELF TO THE DEFENDANT, THE DEFENDANT FLED ON FOOT, LEAVING HIS VEHICLE IN THE ROADWAY. CANINE DEPUTY RITLI AND CANINE AJAX WERE ABLE TO APPREHEND the DEFENDANT. SEE DEPUTY RITLI'S SUPPLEMENT FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. At the time of writing this affidavit, a total of seven vehicle burglaries were discovered in the same vicinity where the defendant was located. the cordless drill the defendant was seen removing from a vehicle was found inside of the defendant's vehicle. a stolen stereo from one vehicle burglary was also recovered in the defendant's vehicle. while placing the defendant in the patrol vehicle to be transported to the citrus county detention facility, the defendant attempted to bite sergeant glaze's left forearm while sergeant glaze was SECURING THE DEFENDANT IN THE seat belt. DURING THIS TIME, the defendant made multipLe comments threatening deputies. THE DEFENDANT also stated "when i get out, you will never catch mE again." deputy dalton transported the defendant to the detention facility where he continued to make threats regarding deputies and corrections officers. i made contact with the owner of the VEHICLE THE defendant WAS DRIVING. SHE advised she was currently out of state AND that no one had permission to be inside of her vehicle or to be driving it. she advised she kept her vehicle'S keys in the vehicle's glove box and SHE KEPT the doors unlocked. THE VEHICLE'S owner WAS advised that her vehicle would be driven to the citrus county sheriff's office impound lot for processing. i also advised the VEHICLE'S OWNER that she wOuld need to complete a vehicle theft affidavit form when she returned home. the victim's vehicle was not entered in ncic/fcic due to the victim not knowing it had been stolen until it was recovered. the defendant was charged with seven counts of vehicle burglary, ONE COUNT OF grand theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of petit theFt, one count of resisting arrest without violence and one count of assault on a law enforcement officer. the defendant's bond was set at no bond on all charges, due to the defendant being a flight risk because of the comments the defendant had made during his aRREST. *NOT-EXEMPT* |
