ON 071513, I WAS DISPATCHED TO THE BEALLS DEPARTMENT STORE LOCATED AT 2851 EAST GULF TO LAKE HIGHWAY IN INVERNESS IN REFERENCE TO A SHOPLIFTER IN CUSTODY. UPON ARRIVAL, CONTACT WAS MADE WITH LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER/WITNESS, MR CHAD WHITLER. HE STATED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 1734 HOURS, HE OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT, MS JEAN DODDS, VIA CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION IN THE jewelry DEPARTMENT. HE OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT SELECT TWO PAIRS OF EARRINGS FROM THE DISPLAY. HE THEN WATCHED HER WALK TO ANOTHER DISPLAY NEXT TO A REGISTER AND SELECT AN UMBRELLA. HE STATED AT THAT TIME SHE WENT IN BETWEEN CLOTHING RACKS WHERE SHE CONCEALED THE EARRINGS IN HER BAG. HE ALSO OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT TAKE THE PRICE TAG OFF THE UMBRELLA AND DISCARD IT IN A POCKET OF A PAIR OF SHORTS. HE ALSO OBSERVED HER PASS ALL POINTS OF SALE AND EXIT THE STORE WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPT TO PAY FOR THE MERCHANDISE. MR WHITLER THEN STOPPED THE DEFENDANT AND ESCORTED HER TO THE LOSS PREVENTION OFFICE. ONCE INSIDE THE LOSS PREVENTION OFFICE, HE RETRIEVED THE STOLEN ITEMS FROM THE DEFENDANT AND ALSO STATED THAT SHE SURRENDERED SEVERAL CLOTHING ITEMS, PERFUME AND jewelry THAT SHE DID NOT PAY FOR. I ALSO VIEWED THE VIDEO SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE THAT REVEALED THE DEFENDANT STEALING THE CLOTHING, jewelry AND PERFUME AND PASSING ALL POINTS OF SALE WITHOUT THE INTENT TO PAY. AT THAT TIME, I HAD MR WHITLER BURN A CD OF THE INCIDENT WHICH WAS LATER TURNED INTO EVIDENCE. HE ALSO FILLED OUT A SWORN WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT WAS COLLECTED AND WILL LATER BE TURNED IN TO RECORDS. I FILLED A PROPERTY RECEIPT FOR ALL THE STOLEN RECOVERED ITEMS AND THE CD OF THE INCIDENT. MR WHITLER WAS GIVEN A COPY OF THE RECEIPT. HE ALSO PROVIDED ME WITH A PRINTED OUT RECEIPT OF THE STOLEN RECOVERED ITEMS WHICH HAD A TOTAL VALUE OF $480.97, WHICH WAS ALSO TURNED IN TO RECORDS. THE DEFENDANT WAS ALSO TRESPASSED FROM BEALLS DEPARTMENT STORE LOCATED AT 2851 EAST GULF TO LAKE HIGHWAY IN INVERNESS, PER MR WHITLER. THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR FELONY RETAIL THEFT, HANDCUFFED, (DOUBLE LOCKED), IN FRONT, SECURED IN THE REAR OF MY PATROL VEHICLE AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING, WHERE THE DEFENDANT'S BOND WAS SET AT $2,000.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. |
