Probable cause affidavit: | SUBMITTED BY: GREATREX, ROBERT 0287 (AR12-2620 CASE: 142888) did unlawfully traffic in or endeavor to traffic in property that THE DEFENDANT knew or should have known was stolen, to-wit: A PAIR OF GOLD STUD EARRINGS, the property of THE VICTIM, in violation of Florida Statute 812.019(1). DID KNOWINGLY GAVE FALSE VERIFICATION OF OWNERSHIP TO PAWN TO WIT: A PAIR OF GOLD STUD EARRINGS, AND THE DEFENDANT GAVE A FALSE OR ALTERED IDENTIFICATION, AND DID RECEIVE MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $11.50 FROM THE GOLD BOOM PAWNBROKER FOR VALUED AT LESS THAN $300.00, IN VIOLATION OF: FSS 539.001(12). ON 090512 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 HOURS I CONDUCTED A FOLLOW UP TO THIS CASE DATED 081012. THE VICTIM, MS DAWN HOTELLING, MADE CONTACT WITH THIS AGENCY TO REPORT A BURGLARY AND A GRAND THEFT WHICH HAD TAKEN PLACE AT 31 NORTH OSCEOLA STREET IN BEVERLY HILLS. DEPUTY CASOLA (0314) MADE CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM AT WHICH TIME THE VICTIM REPORTED TO HIM THAT ON 080912 BETWEEN 0400 AND 1500 HOURS HER RESIDENCE WAS BURGLARIZED BY SUBJECTâS UNKNOWN. THE VICTIM STATED THAT SHE FOUND SHE WAS MISSING SEVERAL PIECES OF JEWELRY FROM HER JEWELRY BOX LOCATED INSIDE HER RESIDENCE. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT ON 081712 THE VICTIMâS JEWELRY WAS PAWNED AT THE GOLD BOOM PAWN SHOP IN BEVERLY HILLS. I MADE CONTACT WITH THE VICTIM ON 081712 WHO MET ME AT THE GOLD BOOM PAWN SHOP AND POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED SEVEN OF HER STOLEN RINGS. THE VICTIMâS RINGS HAD BEEN PAWNED BY MR JAY MENDEZ, WHO IS A CO-DEFENDANT TO THE SUSPECT IN THIS REPORT, MS JENNIFER SULLIVAN. MS SULLIVAN ALSO PAWNED A PAIR OF GOLD EARRINGS BELONGING TO THE VICTIM UNDER A SEPARATE TRANSACTION FORM. A GOLD BLOOM EMPLOYEE DID PROVIDE ME WITH TRANSACTION FORM 000301 WHICH WAS A TRANSACTION MADE BY THE SUSPECT, MS JENNIFER SULLIVAN. THE TRANSACTION FORM DID SHOW SIX PIECES OF JEWELRY WHICH HAD BEEN SOLD TO GOLD BOOM PAWN. THE FIRST ITEM ON THE TRANSACTION FORM WAS A PAIR OF GOLD STUD EARRINGS WHICH WAS IDENTIFIED BY THE VICTIM AS BELONGING TO HER. THE TRANSACTION FORM FURTHER INDICATED THAT JENNIFER SULLIVAN SOLD THE GOLD EARRINGS ON 081512 AT 1200 HOURS. THE SUSPECT DID SIGN HER NAME ON THE TRANSACTION FORM AND PROVIDED HER RIGHT THUMB PRINT AFTER. ON 090512 AT APPROXIMATELY 1415 HOURS I DID RESPOND TO 26 SOUTH BARBOUR STREET IN BEVERLY HILLS WHERE I MADE CONTACT WITH SUSPECT JENNIFER SULLIVAN. AFTER MAKING CONTACT I IDENTIFIED MYSELF AND ADVISED HER THAT I WAS CONDUCTING A FOLLOW UP TO THIS REPORT. AT THAT TIME I ADVISED SUSPECT SULLIVAN OF HER MIRANDA RIGHTS FROM A PRE- PRINTED AGENCY CARD. I THEN ADVISED HER THAT I HAD LOCATED A PAIR OF STOLEN EARRINGS AT THE GOLD BOOM PAWN IN BEVERLY HILLS WHICH SHE APPARENTLY SOLD ON 081512. THE SUSPECT DID ADMIT TO SELLING SEVERAL PIECES OF JEWELRY TO THE GOLD BOOM PAWN ON 081512. SHE ADVISED THAT THE JEWELRY WAS HERS AND THE PAIR OF EARRING BELONGING TO THE VICTIM WAS GIVEN TO HER BY MR JAY MENDEZ. MR MENDEZ MADE A TRANSACTION AT THE GOLD BOOM PAWN ON 081012 AND ALSO PAWNED SEVERAL PIECES OF THE VICTIMâS JEWELRY ON THAT DATE. AT THAT TIME I ADVISED SUSPECT SULLIVAN THAT SHE WAS BEING PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR DEALING IN STOLEN PROPERTY AND PROVIDING FALSE INFORMATION TO A PAWN BROKER. THE DEFENDANT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION AS TO WHERE JAY MENDEZ COULD BE LOCATED. AT THAT TIME THE DEFENDANT WAS HANDCUFFED (DOUBLE LOCKED) BEHIND HER BACK AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY WHERE SHE WAS PROCESSED IN. THE DEFENDANTâS TOTAL BOND WAS SET AT $4,000.00 FOR ONE COUNT OF DEALING IN STOLEN PROPERTY AND ONE COUNT OF PROVIDING FALSE INFORMATION TO PAWN. |
