He was sentenced to 365 day in jail, and 305 days of this sentence were suspended. This conviction was the result of Helgeson meeting the unknown 12 year old female victim on the internet when he started conversing with her via instant messaging. They continued instant messaging and e-mailing one another for a few weeks and during these conversations he told her that he wanted to meet her. On 02/07/05 he made arrangements to meet her near her home. Helgeson took the victim back to his apartment where he sexually assaulted her. Helgeson is no longer on active supervision. |
