| Narrative: | The Brooksville Police Department Patrol Division reports that units were dispatched to the area of 1400 E. Jefferson St in reference to a possible hit and run (vehicle vs a pedestrian). During the investigation it was found that Johnny E. Williams and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument in the parking lot of 1400 E. Jefferson St.. His girlfriend fled the area on foot to a field just south of the address with Williams chasing her in his vehicle. As the victim attempted to cross back over E. Jefferson St in the area of Asmara St, Williams struck her with the vehicle and ran over her dragging her approximately 42 feet. Williams then backed up and fled the area. Responding units located Williams on W. Jefferson St and US 98 and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the traffic stop Williams admitted to hitting the victim. Williams was taken into custody for domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. During an inventory of his vehicle before it was impounded a handgun was located in the center console. The handgun had been reported stolen out of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. It was also found that Williams was a convicted felon, and was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Williams was held at the Hernando County Jail under a no bond for the aggravated battery and a $10,000.00 bond for the possession of the firearm. The victim was airlifted to Bayonet Point with non life threatening injures. |
