SUBMITTED BY: STRICKLAND, JASON 0583 (AR11121936) WILLFULLY, AND MALICIOUSLY INJURE, DESTROY, REMOVE OR IN ANY MANNER INTERFERE WITH THE USE OF ANY VEHICLES, TOOLS EQUIPMENT, WATER SUPPLIES ,HYDRANTS, TOWERS, BUILDINGS COMMUNICATION FACILITIES OR OTHER INSTRUMENTS OR FACILITIES USED IN THE DETECTION, REPORTING, SUPPRESSION, OR EXTINGUISHMENT OF FIRE, IS IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTE 806.10(1) ON 072711, AT APPROXIMATELY 1325 HOURS, I RESPONDED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY LOCATED AT 2604 WEST WOODLAND RIDGE DRIVE IN LECANTO IN REFERENCE TO A CRIMINAL MISCHIEF WHICH HAD ALREADY occurred. UPON MY ARRIVAL I MADE CONT ACT WITH MS CATHERINE HAMPTON, WHO IS THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY SAFETY OFFICER. SHE ESCORTED ME TO THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT AND ALSO THE HOUSING UNIT, WHERE SHE SHOWED ME THE SPRINKLER HEADS THAT ARE USED TO EXTINGUISH FIRES. WHILE SHOWING ME THIS I OBSERVED THE SPRINKLER HEADS TO BE BROKEN OFF. MS HAMPTON THEN ADVISED THAT DEFENDANT, MR JONATHAN ERLANDSON, WAS IN THIS HOUSING UNIT AT APPROXIMATELY 1230 HOURS, WHEN A CORRECTIONS OFFICER SUDDENLY NOTICED WATER COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE DOOR OF HIS CELL. ONCE THEY OPENED HE DOOR TO THE CELL, THEY OBSERVED MR ERLANDSON HAD BROKEN THE SPRINKLER HEAD OFF OF THE EMERGENCY FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. MS HAMPTON FURTHER ADVISED THAT MR ERLANDSON BEGAN MAKING SUICIDAL THREATS, AFTER WHICH HE WAS SPRAYED WITH PEPPER SPRAY BY CORRECTIONS OFFICERS AND WAS MOVED TO MEDICAL, AND ONCE PLACE IN HIS MEDICAL HOLDING CELL, DEFENDANT ERLANDSON ONCE AGAIN BROKE ANOTHER EMERGENCY FIRE SPRINKLER, CAUSING WATER TO SPRAY ALL OVER HIS CELL AGAIN. SHE ADVISED THE DEFENDANT WAS THEN MOVED TO ANOTHER CELL AND WAS FURTHER RESTRAINED SO HE COULD NOT DAMAGE OTHER SYSTEMS. AT THAT TIME THIS AGENCY WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS CRIMINAL ACT. WHILE SPEAKING WITH MS HAMPTON SHE ADVISED EACH SPRINKLER HEAD IS PRICED AT $100.00, FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $200.00. MS HAMPTON ESCORTED ME TO THE DEFENDANT'S HOLDING CELL WHERE I ATTEMPTED TO INTERVIEW THE DEFENDANT BY FIRST READING HIM HIS MIRANDA RIGHTS VIA PREPRINTED CARD. DEFENDANT ERLANDSON THEN EXERCISED HIS RIGHTS AND REFUSED TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. HE WAS THEN ADVISED OF HIS CHARGES. PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN OF THE DAMAGED SPRINKLER HEADS. (SEE CST REPORT). THE DEFENDANT'S BOND WAS SET AT $2,000.00 PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. *NOT-EXEMPT* |
