SUBMITTED BY: MERRITT, JAMES 0757 (AR14-9622) DID, KNOWING HIS DRIVERâS LICENSE OR DRIVING PRIVILEGE HAD BEEN CANCELLED, SUSPENDED OR REVOKED, DRIVE A MOTOR VEHICLE UPON THE HIGHWAYS OF THIS STATE WHILE SUCH LICENSE OR PRIVILEGE WAS CANCELLED, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTE 322.34(2) ON 032414, DEPUTY SETTLES (0113) AND I, RECEIVED A CALL FROM PUBLIX, LOCATED AT 9525 SOUTH SUNCOAST BOULEVARD, HOMOSASSA, IN REFERENCE TO TWO SUSPECTS; ONE A WHITE FEMALE AND A HISPANIC MALE, ATTEMPTING TO SHOPLIFT ITEMS. THE ASSISTANT MANAGER/COMPLAINANT, MR WILLIAM FENTON, PROVIDED AN ILLINOIS LICENSE PLATE NUMBER, ALONG WITH A VEHICLE DESCRIPTION OF A TWO DOOR TEAL (GREEN) IN COLOR CAVALIER OR SUNFIRE. DEPUTY SETTLES OBSERVED the VEHICLE TRAVELLING NORTHBOUND ON HIGHWAY 19 AND HAD INITIATED A TRAFFIC STOP on the VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY 19 AND WEST BRADSHAW STREET, IN HOMOSASSA. THE DRIVER/DEFENDANT, MR JOSE J QUIS, WHO PROVIDED DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS PHOTOGRAPH IDENTIFICATION ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER, MS CARRIE HENDRICKS, IDENTITIES WERE BOTH CONFIRMED THROUGH D.A.V.I.D. BOTH SUSPECTS WERE RUN IN FCIC/NCIC; WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER/DEFENDANT, HAD A SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE DUE TO FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS OF 011712; ALONG WITH MS CARRIE HENDRICKS, HAVING AN OUTSTANDING LEVY COUNTY WARRANT, FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR WITH THE ORIGINAL CHARGES OF DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED OR REVOKED. SEE AR14-9621 FOR FURTHER DETAILS ON MS HENDRICKS ARREST. THE DEFENDANT (MR JOSE J QUIS) ADVISED THAT HE HAD PURCHASED THE 1996 CHEVROLET BEARING ILLINOIS LICENSE PLATE NUMBER 6138041, FROM HIS COUSIN, BUT HAD NOT YET REGISTERED IT IN HIS NAME. THE EXPIRATION OF THE REGISTRATION EXPIRED 103112. THE VEHICLEâS DECAL HAD BEEN SCRAPED AWAY. THE DEFENDANT WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE THE EXPIRED REGISTRATION PAPERWORK, BUT HAD NO PROOF OF INSURANCE. THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED OR REVOKED (AR14-9622). THE DEFENDANT WAS ISSUED FLORIDA CRIMINAL TRAFFIC CITATION, NUMBER 5611-GZP-X, FOR DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED OR REVOKED, WITH A MANDATORY COURT DATE OF 041714 AT 1300 HOURS, AT THE CITRUS COUNTY COURTHOUSE. HE WAS ALSO ISSUED FLORIDA UNIFORM TRAFFIC CITATION, NUMBER 5612-GZP-1, FOR EXPIRED LICENSE PLATE OVER SIX MONTHS, WITH A FINE OF $113.00 PAYABLE WITHIN 30 DAYS, AT THE CITRUS COUNTY COURTHOUSE. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE TWO SUSPECTS, RETURNED THE ITEMS THAT THEY HAD INTENDED TO STEAL TO the SHELVES AND EXITED PUBLIX, DUE TO BEING AWARE THAT THE STORE STAFF WAS WATCHING THEM. THE COMPLAINANT DID NOT WISH TO PURSUE CHARGES, BUT REQUESTED BOTH SUSPECTS TO BE TRESPASSED FROM the PUBLIX SHOPPING CENTER. BOTH SUSPECTS WERE ADVISED TO NOT RETURN to the PUBLIX SHOPPING CENTER, DUE TO BOTH BEING TRESPASSED AND THEY BOTH ADVISED THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD. DEPUTY SETTLES STOOD BY WITH THE DEFENDANTâS VEHICLE, UNTIL THE ARRIVAL OF ADAMSâS TOWING, WHERE THEY THEN TOOK POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. I THEN TRANSPORTED BOTH DEFENDANTS TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING. THE DEFENDANT'S BOND WAS SET AT $500.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. |
