| Comments: | According to official documents, in 1990 KENNETH MITHUN was convicted of Rape of a Child 1st Degree and Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes in King County. MITHUM repeatedly sexually assaulted a 10 year old non familial male in numerous ways. MITHUN started the relationship by taking the boy to movies and they would do other things together. Most of the sexual assaults took place when the boy would stay at MITHUN's home overnight. MITHUN showed the boy a 6 shot revolver. MITHUM was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 24 months of community supervision. In 1996, an adult male from Utah reported to the Medina Police that MITHUN molested and raped him up to 20 times when he was a child. The male said he was 11 years old at the start of the sexual assaults and MITHUN was 21 years old at the time. The male also reported MITHUN took hundreds of photographs of him. By the time he was 13-14 years old, he said tried to stop the molestation, but MITHUN threatened to show the photographs to his parents and mutual friends. He said the molests stopped only after he moved from the area. He reported this after a relative notified him of MITHUN's arrest and conviction for child sexual molestation. He said this has bothered him his entire adult life and the abuse caused him to use drugs. He also mentioned that MITHUN had two handguns including a .357 revolver. In another report to Medina Police in 1996, on two separate occasions, MITHUN had been photographing or attempting to photograph male and female teenagers. Recently, MITHUN has befriended an 11 year old girl and her younger brother. These children have been to MITHUN'S home on multiple occasions and MITHUN has taken numerous photographs of the children. Further investigation is being done to determine if MITHUN has violated the law. Residents who have young children need to be aware of MITHUN'S pattern of grooming his victims by posing as a photographer and convincing is victims to allow him to photograph them. Due to MITHUN's sexual criminal history he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. |
