| Comments: | In July 1981, the adult female victim was sleeping in her bedroom when she was awakened by an intruder (later identified as Welker, age 21) kicking in her locked bedroom door. Welker held the victim down on the bed and put a pillow over her face. Welker hit the victim two times in the head with his fist and continued to hold the victim down while he inserted his finger into her vagina. The victim succeeded in fighting off Welker and he left the residence. K-9 tracked Welker to his residence where he was found hiding in the basement. In 1978 and again in 1978 Welker was found guilty of peeping through windows where women resided. On 04-21-04 Welker pled quilty to Residential Burglary. According to officail documents, when the victim arrived home, she realized that she had interrupted a burglary. She immediately called 911, and called out that she was doing so. As she was talking to the dispatcher, she observed Welker coming down the stairs with a hood covering his face. The victim followed Welker towards his car, where he ripped off the back license plate and drove off. After a short pursuit with police, Welker crashed his car and fled on foot. Evidence from burglaries, including a pistol was found in Welker's vehicle. He turned himself in the following day. Welker registered the listed address. He will be monitored by the Clark County Sex Offender Registration Unit. |
