In another incident in 1977, VANHALTEREN grabbed an adult female in a vacant lot he forced her to perform oral sex on him and sexually fondled the victim. He then stole a small amount of money from her purse and fled the area. In 1979, VANHALTEREN broke into an adult female's residence. He grabbed her 4-year-old son and went into the victim's bedroom holding her son. He laid the victim's son next to her on the bed and forced the victim into having sexual intercourse with him while her son was lying next to them. VANHALTEREN also rummaged through the victim's wallet and jewelry case before fleeing the residence. All three victims identified VANHALTEREN as the suspect who attacked them. He was subsequently convicted of Rape in the 1st Degree in 1979. VANHALTEREN's criminal record includes property crimes, illegal drug possession, negligent driving, misdemeanor assault, criminal contempt, obstructing, and trespass. VANHALTEREN, Kurt A. plead guilty to Rape in the 1st Degree. The conviction stems from a 1979 incident where Vanhalteren broke into an adult female's residence.
