SUBMITTED BY: TAYLOR, TROY 0700 (13-57317) (AR13-5454) DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE OR ENDEAVOR TO TAKE, OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF WALMART, TO WIT: SHOES AND CONSUMABLE SNACK FOODS, CARRYING AWAY THE SAID MERCHANDISE, WITH INTENT TO TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE, A MERCHANT, OF THE POSSESSION, USE, BENEFIT, OR FULL RETAIL VALUE OF SAID PROPERTY, SAID PROPERTY BEING OF A VALUE OF LESS THAN $300.00, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTES 812.015. ON 050113, I WAS DISPATCH TO 1936 NORTH LECANTO HIGHWAY, LECANTO, WALMART, IN REFERENCE TO A RETAIL PETIT THEFT THAT HAD ALREADY OCCURRED WITH A SUSPECT IN CUSTODY. UPON ARRIVAL, I MADE CONTACT WITH COMPLAINANT/LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER, MR BRIAN ELAM, WHO STATED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 1740 HOURS ON TODAYâS DATE HE OBSERVED A WHITE FEMALE LATER IDENTIFIED AS THE SUSPECT, MS LAURA ARENDS, DISPLAYING SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR WHILE IN THE WOMENâS DEPARTMENT OF THE STORE. THE COMPLAINANT CONTINUED FLOOR SURVEILLANCE AND OBSERVED THE SUSPECT SELECT A PAIR OF SHOES AND PLACE THEM IN HER SHOPPING CART, PROCEEDED TO THE ENTRY SECTION OF THE STORE WHERE SHE REMOVED A GREY PLASTIC WALMART SHOPPING BAG FROM HER PURSE AND PLACED A BOX OF MACARONI AND CHEESE INSIDE THE BAG ALONG WITH OTHER ITEMS AND HEADED TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE STORE. MR ELAM CONTINUED SURVEILLANCE WHERE HE OBSERVED THE SUSPECT WALK PAST ALL POINTS OF SALE AND EXIT THE STORE. MR ELAM STOPPED THE SUSPECT, IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AND ADVISED HER THE REASON HE WAS STOPPING HER. MR ELAM THEN ESCORTED THE SUSPECT TO THE LOSS PREVENTION OFFICE AND CONTACTED CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. MR ELAM PROVIDED ME WITH A RECEIPT OF THE ITEMS THAT WERE STOLEN AND RECOVERED BY THE STORE. THE ITEMS CONSISTED OF VARIOUS PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS AND SHOES TOTALING $41.47. MR ELAM PROVIDED ME WITH A SWORN WRITTEN STATEMENT WHICH WILL BE TURNED IN TO RECORDS ALONG WITH THE RECEIPT. HE ADVISED THAT WHEN A COPY OF THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO WAS PREPARED HE WOULD CONTACT THIS AGENCY TO PICK IT UP. THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR RETAIL PETIT THEFT, HANDCUFFED, BEHIND HER BACK, (DOUBLE LOCKED), SECURED IN THE REAR OF MY PATROL VEHICLE AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING. THE DEFENDANTâS BOND WAS SET AT $250.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. |
