| Comments: | According to official documents, in 1990 Laura MCCOLLUM was arrested and charged with First Degree Rape of a Child. She plead guilty and was sentenced to 68 months in prison. In 1987, MCCOLLUM (age 30) befriended an alcoholic mother living in the same apartment complex and began babysitting her daughter. MCCULLOM began sexually assaulting the child beginning when the child was 1-1/2 years old until she was 3 years old. In 1989 the victim told her father that she and her babysitter had been playing games , and the sexual abuse was discovered and the victim's father reported the crime to the Tacoma Police Department. MCCOLLUM had moved to Bremerton and wasn't located and arrested until March of 1990. MCCOLLUM has disclosed that she began molesting and sexually abusing children at the age of 12. She reported that she had molested between 30 and 40 children in her neighborhood by the time she was 13 years old. During a sexual history polygraph examination in 2002 she disclosed between 100 and 150 victims, with the majority occurring before the age of 18. Due to this behavior she was committed to the state hospital in Tennessee. She reports upon her release at the age of 14 she continued targeting and abusing children. MCCOLLUM has consistently reported sadistic and homicidal sexual fantasies, and has been violent toward children that didn't comply with her demands. Her victim age range is infancy to 8 years old. She also reportedly sexually assaulted her own newborn daughter. MCCOLLUM has also offended against at least 3 male child victims including her 8 year old nephew when she was 24 or 25 years old. MCCOLLUM has no other criminal history. She has never been charged or convicted of any other crimes. MCCOLLUM has been authorized to leave the Secure Commitment Center (SCC) on McNeil Island and reside at the Secure Community Transition Facility (SCTF) on McNeil Island which has less supervision. MCCOLLUM will be escorted when she leaves her secure housing and is also on community supervision through the Department of Corrections (DOC). Due to MCCOLLUM'S sexual criminal history she has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. |
