Probable cause affidavit: SUBMITTED BY: BRIGGS, RICHARD 0089 (AR10113181) DID, LEAVE THE SCENE OF A CRASH witH PROPERTY DAMAGE IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATUTE 316.061(1) ON 020610, AT APPROXIMATELY 0153 HOURS, I ARRIVED AT 4591 NORTH CARL G ROSE HIGHWAY (GP'S LIQUOR LOUNGE) IN REFERENCE TO A HIT AND RUN. UPON ARRIVAL, I MADE CONTACT WITH THE WITNESS WHO ADVISED THAT HE OBSERVED A HEAVY SET WHITE FEMALE GET INTO AN OLDER MODEL OLDSMOBILE, BACK UP AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND SMASH INTO THE VICTIMS VEHICLE. HE ADVISED AT THAT TIME HE OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT'S VEHICLE LEAVE THE PARKING LOT AND GO ACROSS THE STREET TO 4561 PIONEER TERRACE, WHERE HE OBSERVED THE VEHICLE PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER RECEIVING THAT INFORMATION, I THEN WENT OVER TO THE AREA OF PIONEER TERRACE, WHERE I LOCATED THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION. AT THAT TIME, I MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEFENDANT, MS MELODY PATTERSON, AT HER RESIDENCE. I THEN INQUIRED ABOUT THE INCIDENT THAT HAD OCCURRED, AND OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT WAS VERY INTOXICATED AND BELLIGERENT. SHE ADVISED that SHE WAS NOT IN THE PARKING LOT AND THAT SHE HAD WALKED FROM HER HOUSE TO the BAR. AT THAT TIME, CORPORAL AMSLER ARRIVED ON SCENE AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE INCIDENT WITH THE DEFENDANT. SHE THEN ADVISED HIM THAT SHE HAD DRIVEN FROM THE BAR TO HER RESIDENCE. AT THAT TIME, I WENT OVER TO THE BAR, PICKED UP THE WITNESS, DROVE OVER TO THE DEFENDANT'S RESIDENCE WHERE THE WITNESS IDENTIFIED THE DEFENDANT AND THE DEFENDANT'S VEHICLE. I THEN DROPPED THE WITNESS BACK OFF AT the BAR, AND RETURNED BACK TO THE DEFENDANT'S RESIDENCE. I THEN CONDUCTED A SEARCH OF THE DEFENDANT'S VEHICLE, AND IT REVEALED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BUMPER AREA. THERE WERE ALSO SEVERAL FRESH SCRAPE MARKS IN THE CENTER OF the BUMPER. AT THAT TIME, THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR LEAVING THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE DEFENDANT'S VEHICLE WAS LEFT ON THE SCENE AND SHE WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY. WHILE EN ROUTE TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY, THE DEFENDANT ADVISED ME THAT SHE HAD NOT BACKED INTO tHE VICTIM'S VEHICLE, SHE HAD RAMMED IT WITH HER VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DETENTION FACILITY, THE DEFENDANT WAS CHARGED WITH LEAVING THE SCENE WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE, WITH A BOND SET AT $250.00 PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. SHE WAS ALSO ISSUED A FLORIDA UNIFORM TRAFFIC CITATION, NUMBER 2561ESH-1, FOR LEAVING THE SCENE WITH PROPERTY with A MANDATORY COURT APPEARANCE OF 022510 AT 1300 HOURS AT THE CITRUS COUNTY COURTHOUSE. *NOT-EXEMPT*
