| Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. According to official documents MICHAEL S ANGELO was originally charged with 1 count of Child Molestation in the First Degree. Those charges were amended and ANGELO pled guilty in Island County Superior Court to 2 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Child Molestation in the First Degree. ANGELO was sentenced to 66.75 months confinement and 36 months community custody. The victim in this incident was a known 6 year old female. The victim disclosed to her parents that ANGELO put his hands down the victim's panties and rubbed her buttocks and put his hand between her legs and touched her privates. Angelo stopped the assault after the victim told him twice to stop. During his confinement ANGELO declined to enter into the DOC Sex Offender Treatment Program. According to the Island County Superior Court Judgment and Sentence, ANGELO will be required to enter into Sex Offender Treatment upon his release.
