ON 052213, I RESPONDED TO 8448 SOUTH SUNCOAST BOULEVARD IN REFERENCE TO RECEIVING INFORMATION THAT THE SUSPECT IN THIS CASE, MR PAUL MAZZARESE, WAS PRESENT AT THIS LOCATION AND WANTED TO SPEAK WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT. UPON ARRIVAL, I DID MAKE CONTACT WITH THE SUSPECT. THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE DID WANT TO SPEAK WITH ME ABOUT THE INCIDENT. I THEN READ THE SUSPECT MIRANDA FROM A PREPRINTED CARD AND ASKED THE SUSPECT IF HE UNDERSTOOD HIS RIGHTS, TO WHICH HE ADVISED HE DID. THE SUSPECT ALSO ADVISED HE WISHED TO SPEAK WITH ME REGARDING THE BURGLARY AT 6231 WEST GREEN ACRES STREET. THE SUSPECT ADVISED SOMETIME LAST WEEK HE AND THE VICTIM IN THIS CASE, MR COREY COPPES, WERE AT THE VICTIMâS DECEASED FATHERâS HOUSE CLEANING IT UP. THE SUSPECT ADVISED THAT PRIOR TO LEAVING THE RESIDENCE HE DID OBSERVE THE SHED IN THE YARD TO BE UNSECURED. THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND WITH UNKNOWN INTENT, DUE TO BEING HIGH ON DRUGS, WOUND UP REMOVING THREE ITEMS FROM THE SHED, SPECIFICALLY A GENERATOR, A CHAINSAW AND A ROUTER. THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE THEN CONTACTED A FEMALE SUBJECT, TO WHICH HE DID NOT WANT TO NAME, WHO PICKED HIM UP AND BROUGHT HIM TO THE AMERICAN TRADING POST IN CRYSTAL RIVER TO PAWN THE ITEMS. THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE LIED TO THE FEMALE SUBJECT ABOUT OWNING THE ITEMS AND UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AMERICAN TRADING POST, HE PERSONALLY WAS NOT ABLE TO PAWN THE ITEMS DUE TO HAVING NO IDENTIFICATION ON HIS PERSON. THE SUSPECT ADVISED THE FEMALE SUBJECT UTILIZED HER IDENTIFICATION TO PAWN THE ITEMS. THE SUSPECT ADVISED HE IS CURRENTLY HOMELESS AND FIGHTING A DRUG ADDICTION AND WAS UNSURE WHY HE TOOK THE ITEMS BUT ADVISED HE WANTED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH DETECTIVE DALE STRICKLAND WHO WAS ASSIGNED THIS CASE. HE ADVISED TO PLACE THE SUSPECT UNDER ARREST BASED ON THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO ME BY THE SUSPECT. THE SUSPECT AT THAT TIME COMPLETED A SWORN WRITTEN STATEMENT, WHICH WILL BE TURNED INTO RECORDS. THE DEFENDANT WAS THEN PLACED UNDER ARREST, HANDCUFFED (DOUBLE LOCKED) BEHIND HIS BACK, AND SEARCHED INCIDENT TO ARREST. HE WAS THEN PLACED IN THE REAR SEAT OF MY PATROL VEHICLE AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING. BOND WAS SET AT A TOTAL OF $5,000.00 PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. |
