KNOWINGLY GAVE FALSE VERIFICATION OF OWNERSHIP OF A GARMIN GPS AND THE DEFENDANT GAVE A FALSE OR ALTERED IDENTIFICATION AND WHO RECEIVED MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $20.00 FROM PAT'S PAWN SHOP FOR THE GARMIN GPS, VALUED AT LESS THAN $300.00, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTE 539.001(8)(B)(8)(A). ON 081011, WHILE CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION INTO CITRUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE CASE NUMBER 11080259, THIS DETECTIVE LOCATED A PAWN BY THE DEFENDANT, MS PAULA VALADE, AT PAT'S PAWN IN CRYSTAL RIVER. THE PAWN TOOK PLACE ON 080611 AT 1137 HOURS AND THE ITEM PAWNED WAS A GARMIN GPS, MODEL NUVI 500 SERIAL NUMBER 1FF018236. RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED ON THIS GARMIN UNIT AND IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN DURING A VEHICLE BURGLARY IN GREENSBORO NORTH CAROLINA ON 101410. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE VICTIM OF THE VEHICLE BURGLARY, MR BRIAN FRAMPTON, WHO CONFIRMED THAT HE WAS THE VICTIM OF A VEHICLE BURGLARY AND THE ITEM STOLEN WAS A GARMIN GPS, MODEL NUVI 500, SERIAL NUMBER 1FF018236 (GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT CASE NUMBER 2010-1014-135). AN INTERVIEW WAS CONDUCTED WITH THE DEFENDANT, MS PAULA VALADE, WHO IS CURRENTLY INCARCERATED AT THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY ON UNRELATED CHARGES. DEFENDANT VALADE ADMITTED TO PAWNING THE ABOVE STATED GPS, KNOWING THAT IT WAS STOLEN AND THAT IT WAS NOT HER PROPERTY TO PAWN. DEFENDANT VALADE WAS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF DEALING IN STOLEN PROPERTY AND ONE COUNT OF FALSE INFORMATION TO A PAWN BROKER. TOTAL BOND WAS SET AT $15,000.00 PER THE BOND SCHEDULE.
