Inmate name: | Peyton Reid Jones |
Charge description: | Peyton Reid Jones was sentenced to two-year probation on April 27, 2016 in an agreement with prosecutors after a jury convicted him of Assault. Jones, an 18-year-old Katy man, was charged with assaulting a classmate during school a year ago. According to Assistant District Attorney Justin Foster, Peyton Jones and another student were horse playing in the locker room at Cinco Ranch High School before wrestling practice on April 8, 2015. At one point, Jones had pinned the young man to the ground, but let him up to change. After the youth stood up and walked to his locker to change, the defendant inexplicably struck him in the face, knocking out a tooth. The victim also need 10 stiches to repair his injuries. This is an example for high school students of where the line between horse play and an assault exists, said Justin Foster, the lead prosecutor on the case. There are situations where someone can take it too far, and I think most would agree that 10 stiches plus a tooth qualifies as that. Jones was tried in County Court at Law No. 1 before Presiding Judge Christopher G. Morales. Assault in this case is a Class A Misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in the county jail and/or a fine up to $4,000. Jones was ordered to pay over $5,000 in restitution, attend anger management counseling, perform 70 hours of community service during his term of probation, and write a letter of apology to his victim. Assistant District Attorneys Justin Foster and Monica Nunez-Garza prosecuted the case. Attorney Sean Buckley represented the defendant. |
