Comments: According to official documents Pawling was found guilty by jury trial on 10/07/1977 in the King County Superior Court for Burglary 1st degree, Rape 1st degree and Criminal Trespass 1st degree 2 Counts as Gross Misdemeanors. He was sentenced on 12/08/1977 to no more than 35 years on the burglary and rape and 12 months in jail on the 2 counts of trespass. All sentences were served concurrent. This conviction was the result of Pawling?s actions on 08/07/1977 and all three incidents occurred on that date. In the Criminal Trespass incidents Pawling entered the residences of two unknown females without force. In both cases the females suddenly found Pawling near them inside their residences. He found in both cases that the females were not alone and immediately fled. In the 1st trespass incident Pawling was seen sitting in a vehicle by a female who was out walking. This victim noticed Pawling staring at her. She later found the he was now following her on foot. She began to run and he started running after her. She continued to run until she reached her residence. A short time later Pawling entered her residence. Pawling then entered a third residence without force and found the 16 year old unknown female victim home alone. He grabbed her and strangled her, threatening to kill her as he forcibly removed her from the residence. Pawling dragged the victim a short distance from the residence where he forcibly raped her. While being dragged from the residence the victim felt something against her back and felt that it was a knife and during that time he continued to threaten to kill her. During the incident the victim's screams attracted the attention of another resident whom went to her aid. Pawling then fled the area. The incident was immediately reported along with the two trespass incidents. As a result of a license plate number of a vehicle Pawling had previously been seen in he was later contacted at a nearby residence and arrested. Pawling was paroled on 10/01/1985. He was arrested and served time for violations of supervision twice while on parole. He returned to prison on 12/05/1990 as a result of his current offense. On 09/27/1990 Pawling was found guilty by a jury trial for Assault 1st degree and sentenced to 150 months in prison. On 07/11/1990 Pawling ran up behind the unknown adult female victim as she was entering her apartment. He struck her over the head with a large piece of concrete knocking her to the ground. The victim struggled with Pawling for about 1 minute before he turned and fled. Police were a called by the victim and in a 2nd incident where Pawling was observed climbing an apartment wall by another resident. Pawling was found in the area and was arrested. Pawling has not received sex offender treatment. He did complete substance abuse treatment while in prison for the current offense. Pawling no longer has any conditions, except to register.
