Date of birth: May 12, 1992
Probable cause affidavit: SUBMITTED BY: FERGUSON, ADAM 0505 (AR12124321) (0351) THE DEFENDANT DID UNLAWFULLY AND KNOWINGLY OBTAIN OR USE, OR ENDEAVOR TO OBTAIN OR USE THE PROPERTY OF THE VICTIM, SPENCER'S GIFT STORE, TO WIT: A BLACK LANYARD AND FEMALE MASSAGER, SAID PROPERTY BEING OF A VALUE OF $16.98, WITH THE INTENT TO EITHER TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY DEPRIVE THE VICTIM OF A RIGHT TO THE PROPERTY OR A BENEFIT THEREOF, OR DID APPROPRIATE THE SAID PROPERTY TO HIS OWN USE OR THE USE OF ANY PERSON NOT ENTITLED THERETO, IN VIOLATION OF FLORIDA STATE STATUTES 812.014((3)(a). ON 011012, I RESPONDED TO SPENCER'S GIFT STORE LOCATED AT 1801 NORTHWEST HIGHWAY 19 IN CRYSTAL RIVER. UPON ARRIVAL I MADE CONTACT with the COMPLAINANT, MR PERRY UNGER, AN EMPLOYEE OF THE STORE WHO ADVISED HE OBSERVED THE DEFENDANT, RACHELLE HECHT, OPEN A PACKAGE FOR A FEMALE MASSAGER, REMOVED THE ITEM FROM THE PACKAGE, DISCARDED THE PACKAGE, THEN CONCEALED THE ITEM. SHE THEN EXITED THE STORE PASSING ALL POINTS OF PURCHASE WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO PURCHASE THE ITEM. HE THEN STOPPED THE DEFENDANT, BROUGHT HER TO THE OFFICE WHERE HE LOCATED A BLACK LANYARD VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $3.99 WHICH SHE ADMITTED TO REMOVING FROM THE STORE. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE FEMALE MASSAGER, SHE ADVISED SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO IT. I MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEFENDANT AND READ HER MIRANDA VIA PREPRINTED CARD. THE DEFENDANT STATED THAT SHE UNDERSTOOD HER RIGHTS AND WOULD TALK TO ME. I ASKED HER WHERE THE FEMALE MASSAGER WAS LOCATED, AT WHICH TIME SHE REMOVED THE ITEM FROM HER BOOK BAG AND HANDED IT TO THE COMPLAINANT. THE DEFENDANT ADVISED SHE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR IT AND THAT WAS WHY SHE STOLE IT. THE DEFENDANT WAS PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR ONE COUNT OF RETAIL PETIT THEFT. SHE WAS HANDCUFFED BEHIND HER BACK (DOUBLE LOCKED,) SECURED IN THE REAR OF MY PATROL VEHICLE AND TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR FURTHER PROCESSING. UPON ARRIVAL, SHE WAS BOOKED AND HELD WITH BOND WAS SET AT $250.00, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BOND SCHEDULE.
