| Comments: | According to official documents Schmidt pled guilty in Snohomish County Superior Court on 10/19/2001 to one count of Kidnapping in the First Degree with Sexual Motivation. He was sentenced to 51 months in prison. This conviction was the result of Schmidt and an accomplice attacking a 19 year old unknown female as she jogged on the Centennial Trail. Schmidt and the accomplice ?staked out? the trail with the intent to rape someone. They watched as joggers passed and allowed approximately 10 female joggers to pass before targeting the victim. They approached her from behind and both grabbed her. They then drug her off of the trail. She fought to resist them and screamed at them. The accomplice was holding a stick later found to be a miniature baseball bat. The victim continued to struggle and the accomplice said ?let?s get out of here? and they fled on foot. Schmidt and his accomplice planned for up to three weeks to rob and rape a female. Previous to this attack they had gone to at least two other public locations to find victims, however they could not get anyone to their car or did not find anyone. Schmidt declined to participate in sex offender treatment while in custody. Schmidt is no longer on supervision. |
