| Narrative: | A gray Dodge Charger was observed heading west on W. Jefferson with two occupants. The Charger was observed making a right turn onto East Ave. Officers stopped at the same intersection in a marked patrol car detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the Charger as it passed. The Charger made a right turn onto FT Dade heading towards Ponce De Leon. Officers continued to smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle so a traffic stop was initiated on Ft Dade Ave. The charger pulled into the parking lot of Royal Gas located at 101 Ponce De Leon. The Charger stopped for a brief moment then proceeded further into the parking lot. As the Charger came to a stop officers observed the “right front seat passenger” defendant RICHARD GRANT throw a plastic baggy out the passenger window onto the ground next to the vehicle. Officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle occupants. The odor of marijuana was still emitting from the vehicle. The plastic baggy was recovered and found to contain crack cocaine. Officers explained the reason for the stop and requested that RICHARD GRANT exit the vehicle. GRANT was arrested. Post arrest $4637 dollars in cash was discovered in GRANTS pants pocket. RICHARD GRANT was arrested and transported to the Hernando County Detention Facility without incident. GRANT is being held on a $5000 dollar bond. |
