| Commentaries: | Comments According to official documents, Bergen attempted to have sex with a 13 year old male who he had no prior relationship with Bergen. He was given a term of 60 months in prison on 10-29-1997. This victim had his bike fixed by Bergen who attempted to have oral sex with this victim. Bergen who was approximately 47 years old raped a 13 year old male. This boy was walking home after completing his paper route. Bergen asked if he could buy a paper and then put his arm around the victim's neck and took him to a isolated area where the victim was raped. Bergen also assaulted a 14 year old male who also had just finished his paper route. The victim resisted being taken to the woods and Bergen pulled a knife and placed it on the victim's throat. A citizen saw what had taken place and Bergen fled the area. Bergen was given a term of ten (10) years after being convicted of Indecent Liberties and Assault 2nd Degree on 5-21-1974. On 11-24-1971 Bergen, 45, solicited a 13 year old male for sexual activity. This victim refused and Bergen left. The victim was able to obtain the license plate of Bergen's vehicle. Bergen pled guilty on 3-23-1972 and entered into a 3 year stipulation for receiving counseling. Bergen had 6 parole violations in 1966 in which he would write letters and place them on a woman's car who did not know Bergen. Bergen was sent back to prison. Bergen was again arrested after handing an obscene letter to a secretary at a mill. He had just been released on parole 12 days prior to this arrest after serving 3 years for his 1957 parole violation. In his 1957 parole violation Bergen, who was 30 years old, approached 2 minor females ages 9 and 10 on the street and took them for a walk. He then told the girls the facts of life concerning sex . Bergen had only been out of prison for 2 months before this offense took place. On 1-26-1951 Bergen was convicted of Indecent Liberties in which he had been working near the victims home and offered a present if she walked into the woods with him. The 7 year old female went with Bergen. Bergen attempted to have sexual intercourse with this victim. She was able to get away and Bergen was arrested that evening. On 8-24-1947 Bergen, 20 years of age was walking home and invited the 9 year old female victim to his home. Bergen then took the victim into his bedroom and lifted up her dress and fondled the victim. Bergen was arrested the same day. After serving his 60 months in prison for his 1997 conviction of Communication with a Minor, he was sent to the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island and was committed in November of 2001. He did not enter into sex offender treatment until 2010 and stayed in this program until his release. Bergen was found to no longer meet Criteria as a Sexually Violent Predator on 8-8-2011. Subsequently, the court has ordered his unconditional release. Shall enter into and successfully participate in a counseling program as directed. Shall have no contact with minors. Shall have no direct or indirect contact with any victim. Shall not enter parks, playgrounds or schools. Shall not possess or peruse pornographic materials. Shall not purchase, own, have in his possession or under his control any firearm or deadly weapon. Shall not reside with anyone who is a parent/legal guardian of minor children. Shall not use, possess, consume any controlled substances without a lawfully issued prescription. Shall not work at or be in places frequented by minors. Shall submit to polygraph examination as directed. |
