Inmate name: | Robert Jackson |
Charge description: | The Fort Bend County District Attorneys Office prevailed in yet another serious case of domestic violence. 268th District Court Judge Brady Elliott convicted Robert Jackson of a felony Family Violence Assault on August 12, 2013 after Jackson elected for the court to hear his case. The 47 year-old Richmond man was then sentenced by Elliott to 25 years in the penitentiary. According to Chief Domestic Violence Prosecutor Chad Bridges, Jackson arrived at his former girlfriends house in Richmond on July 13, 2011. At the defendants request, the woman walked to the defendants car. There, Jackson surprised her by grabbing her and forcing her into his car. Jackson threatened to hurt her if she tried to escape and drove away with her. His threat was overheard by the victims daughter, and another family member called the police. Richmond Police Officer Todd Ganey located the defendant and his victim in another part of Richmond where Jackson was arrested after the victim told the police what happened. Jackson was charged with a third-degree felony assault because of a prior family violence conviction. The punishment range was then increased to 25 to 99 years or life in prison because of Jacksons two prior felony convictions one of them for being a repeat family violence offender in a prior felony case. This sentence prevents Mr. Jackson from re-offending for many years. I appreciate the Courts consideration of our case, said Bridges. Assistant District Attorneys Chad Bridges and Robert Yack prosecuted the case. Attorney Rocky Glass represented the defendant. |
