| Narrative: | On the above date and time, officers of the Brooksville Police Department responded to Amscott located at 19422 Cortez Blvd in reference to a fraud. Upon arrival, the complainant (an Amscott employee) advised that a Hispanic male was in the store attempting to cash a check with a fake ID card. The check was for $270.00 and was signed by the suspect using the fake name on the ID card. Officers made contact with the subject who provided the officers with the identification card. Inspection of the card revealed it was not real. After interviewing the suspect, he admitted that the card was fake and he bought it from an unknown person. He advised that his name was Salvador Yepez and he was in the country illegally. Yepez was placed under arrest and charged with providing a false name to law enforcement and forgery of a check and transported to the Hernando County Jail where he is being held on $270.00 bond. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified of Yepez’s arrest. |
