| Probable cause affidavit: | \tSUBMITTED BY: SUDLOW, JAMES 0759 (AR14-8642) (14-3183) \tdid knowingly give false information to a law enforcement officer, to wit: DEPUTY JAMES SUDLOW, concerning the alleged commission of a crime, to wit: REPORTED A PERSONAL ROBBERY OF A JACKET and CELLULAR TELEPHONE AND THEN LATER ADMITTED THAT HE DID NOT WANT TO GET THE PERSON IN TROUBLE FOR TAKING THE JACKET AND THEN CAME UP A PERSONAL ROBBERY STORY, in violation of Florida Statute 837.05. \t \tON 010714, I WAS DISPATCHED TO THE AREA OF WEST GROVER CLEVELAND BOULEVARD AND SOUTH ARROWHEAD DRIVE IN HOMOSASSA IN REFERENCE TO A PERSONAL ROBBERY JUST occurred. \t \tUPON ARRIVAL, I MADE CONTACT WITH THE SUSPECT, MR SETH GOODMAN, WHO WAS LATER IDENTIFIED AS the DEFENDANT. MR GOODMAN STATED HE WAS WALKING EAST ON WEST GROVER CLEVELAND BOULEVARD IN THE VICINITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA DRIVE, WHEN A BLACK MALE EXITED the WOODS AND DEMANDED HIS BROWN CARHARTT JACKET AND IPHONE 4S CELLULAR PHONE. HE STATED THE BLACK MALE HAD A PAIR OF BRASS KNUCKLES SO HE GAVE HIS JACKET UP AND THEN WALKED UP THE STREET TO TWO DEUCES and CALLED THE ROBBERY IN. \t \tDURING THIS INVESTIGATION, THIS DEPUTY found OUT THAT THE DEFENDANT ENTERED TWO DEUCES WITH HIS BROWN CARHARTT JACKET AND CELLULAR TELEPHONE, DRANK ALCOHOL AND STAYED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS. WITNESSES IN TWO DEUCES STATED HE LEFT THE BAR WITHOUT HIS JACKET AND THE FEMALE HE WAS DRINKING WITH TOOK THE JACKET BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE KNEW THE DEFENDANT. \t \tI THEN QUESTIONED THE DEFENDANT ABOUT this INFORMATION. the DEFENDANT THEN ADMITTED HE MADE UP THE ROBBERY STORY because HE DID NOT WANT TO GET the FEMALE IN TROUBLE. THE DEFENDANT DID ADMIT HE KNEW THE FEMALE IN QUESTION AND HE HAD A LAPSE IN JUDGMENT AND KNEW A ROBBERY HAD NOT occurred. \t \tAT THAT TIME, I ADVISED THE DEFENDANT HE WAS BEING PLACED UNDER ARREST FOR ONE COUNT OF PROVIDING A FALSE REPORT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES. HE WAS HANDCUFFED (DOUBLE LOCKED) BEHIND the BACK AND SECURED IN THE REAR SEAT OF MY PATROL VEHICLE. HE WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE CITRUS COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY FOR BOOKING AND PROCESSING, WHERE HIS BOND WAS SET AT $500.00, PER THE BOND SCHEDULE. |
