| Comments: | In 2004, Shane BERG was convicted of Child Molestation 3rd Degree. BERG met the 15 year old female victim through a mutual friend. BERG started seeing the victim on a regular basis. BERG sexually fondled the victim's breast and on at least one occasion had sexual intercourse with the victim. BERG was aware of the victim's age during his association with the victim. In 2001, BERG was convicted of Child Molestation 1st Degree. BERG was visiting at a friend's residence and was watching a movie with other people at the residence. Early in the morning, BERG awoke the 10 year old female victim by pulling on her leg while she was sleeping on the floor at the residence. BERG reached inside the victim's clothing and sexually fondled her vaginal area. While incarcerated, BERG self-admitted that when he was 16 years old, he had sexually molested a 12 year old female neighbor on 3 occasions. No criminal charges have been filed in that case. BERG participated in a community based Sex Offender Treatment Program after his incarceration as a juvenile. He was later terminated from this treatment after it was learned that he was associating with persons more then 2 years younger then he was. The therapist felt that BERG remains highly impulsive and immature and will continue to engage in indiscriminate sexual behavior. He appears to have an attraction to adolescent females and continues to place himself in situations where he has access with females in this age range. BERG is no longer under community supervision by the Washington State Department of Corrections. Due to BERG's sexual criminal history, he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. This allows the Pierce County Sheriff's Department to disclose relevant, necessary, and accurate information to the public at large. Sex Offender registration laws allow for the tracking of sexual offenders. It does not control the location of where an offender chooses to live. |
