| Comments: | According to official documents, Shawn SWEENEY assaulted and attempted to rape an adult female stranger as she was leaving her place of employment. SWEENEY approached the victim as she was walking to her car. SWEENEY asked the victim if she was married. The victim told him that she was married and continued to walk to her car. SWEENEY followed the victim to her car and when she opened the door and sat down in the driver's seat; he grabbed the victim by the hair and pulled her head backward. SWEENEY was armed with a knife during this attack. SWEENEY held the knife to the victim's throat and said, Just come on . The victim attempted to resist and SWEENEY attempted to stab her with the knife. SWEENEY subsequently pulled the victim from her car and dragged her toward his vehicle. The victim broke free at one point, but SWEENEY grabbed her and physically assaulted her. The victim promised SWEENEY she would not tell the police if he would let her go, which he did. Prior to this attack SWEENEY had frequented the victim's place of employment several times. The victim sustained an 80% loss of vision to one of her eyes. SWEENEY participated in treatment while incarcerated. SWEENEY is NOT currently under supervision by the Department of Corrections. SWEENEY's criminal history includes a juvenile conviction for Indecent Liberties and Theft. SWEENEY admitted to numerous incidents involving sexual abuse and fondling. Due to SWEENEY's sexual criminal history, he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. |
