| Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. According to official court records Theodore Wakenight pled guilty to Rape in the Third degree and Burglary W/Sexual Motivation. Wakenight sexually assaulted a 45 year old known female victim. Wakenight walked the victim home after having drinks with her and others. After saying goodnight, the victim went to bed. She awoke to a noise and found Wakenight standing in her bedroom naked from the waist down. Wakenight had forcible sex with the victim. Court sentenced Wakenight to 43 months confinement. According to file material, Wakenight refused to participate in the DOC Sex Offender Treatment Program.
