| Probable cause affidavit: | On 3/19/12 Deputy Reeves and I initiated a traffic stop on a maroon Chevrolet four door bearing Florida tag E453KE for running the stop sign at E Inverness Blvd and W Highland Blvd in Inverness. Deputy Reeves made contact with the driver and requested her driverâs license, registration and proof of insurance. The defendant, Troy C Parker, was the front seat passenger at the time of the traffic stop. After Deputy Reeves made contact, I completed written warning 32778B for running the stop sign. Deputy Phillips arrived on scene while I was completing the written warning and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle using K9 Kino. Deputy Phillips advised that K9 Kino alerted to the odor of narcotics. Deputy Reeves told the defendant that K9 Kino had alerted to the odor of narcotics and the defendant exited the vehicle and said that K9 Kino had alerted because of him. A search of the defendantâs person by Detective Blair revealed approximately four grams of cannabis and a multicolored glass pipe in the defendantâs front right pants pocket. Four Promethazine Hydrochloride 25 mg pills, five Ibuprofen 800 mg pills, six Ibuprofen 400 mg pills, three Acetaminophen pills, one Buprenorphine pill and one half of an unknown pill were found in the vehicle and on the defendantâs person and the defendant admitted ownership of these pills. At that time, the defendant was placed under arrest for possession of cannabis less than twenty grams and possession of paraphernalia and issued Notice to Appear Citation 18134 with a mandatory court appearance on 4/5/12 at 1300 hours at the Citrus County Courthouse which the defendant signed and was provided a copy of. Due to the defendantâs honesty, he was not charged with the possession of the pills. The cannabis, glass pipe and all of the pills were collected and turned into evidence. |
